I had a lighthouse theme for my bathroom but want something new. Any ideas for a theme for my small bathroom?

I guess I should have added that I CANNOT paint or put up wall paper. My husband is in the military and we live in Government housing.

  1. lighthouses sound cool. They have a good monkey/jungle collection at bed bath and beyond. they have a ton of other themes there too.
  2. I had vintage wine theme in my old bathroom. A wine bottle held a few flowers. Took labels off of other bottles and put on hand soap and hand lotion dispensers. On the walls I had a couple of small Tuscan pictures and another one that had painted grapes. In my other bathroom I had old razors and razor blades boxes and blades. Old barbershop theme. I'm getting ready to sell all the razor stuff. Just moved and have changed the bathroom
  3. how about a rustic outhouse look. Don't forget the halfmoon above the door!
  4. i like the magnolia theme
  5. As an interior decorator I can tell you a couple of things that may help you in your decision. 1. Themed rooms are pretty much out of style. They also "date" VERY quickly. 2. You say your bathroom is small. Using a theme in any small room, especially a bath, has never been a good idea. I'd suggest instead of a theme, like your lighthouse one, go with a texture, color or metal as a "theme". Currently, updating a bathroom's fixtures to either stainless brushed nickel or oil rubbed bronze is the smartest thing one can do. Or, if you have your heart set on a theme, try to make it something classy, such as a spa theme. A luxurious spa look can make everyone, even yourself, forget it IS a small bath. ;) The most recent small bath I've done on a modest budget consisted of the following. Keep walls a light shade of whatever color you pick to keep the room from loooking too small OR, chair rails are no longer just for kitchen and dinning areas. I used a color theme of pale blue and chocolate; chocolate below the rail and the pale blue above it. Use textures and solid colors, not patterns, in the shower cutain and towels. I purchased a hotel quality, oatmeal colored, waffle weave shower curtian for $20 at TJ Maxx. I then purchased choclate braiding at a fabric stote and applied to the curatin borders. Pale blue, oatmeal and chocolate colored bath and hand towels in various textures were then placed on the.towel rack and in a basket on the counter. Towel sets that match are very dated. All fixtures, including the shower curtain rod were updated to a brushed satin nickel color. These days, things like trash cans, soap dishes, etc. can be found inexpensively in that metal finish as well. Also, as a final note, if you have a large glass wall mirror that is outdated, simply buy trim moulding at a hardware store and frame it, like a photgraph. You can paint it to work with your colors- white to match the chair rail, or sprqay it with one off the new stainless satin spray paints to give it a stainless look and feel. Just use your imagination and have fun!
  6. Go to a home improvement store, and find the wallpaper that you absolutely love. Since it is a small bathroom, it won't look "overdone" and you can have something you really want. Then work with "outfitting" the bathroom with the rest (ie. soap dish, trash can, curtains)
