My bathrooms tiles are leaking. Will the leak stop if white cement is used?

what are the other alternatives to prevent seepage?

  1. Tiles cannot leak. I don't know what your problem is. Explain further please
  2. Be careful. If you seal the leaks, there could still be mold growing behind it. We just retiled our bathroom. No an easy job. Why don't you try replacing the grout? Remove the old stuff and apply new stuff. If it's a small leak caulk it with silicone. There are some good websites for DIY's. Put tiling into a search engine and many will come up.
  3. if water is getting into your walls its most likely got in through a pipe leaking within the wall causing your tiles to crack from expansion, sealing the tiles wont fix the problem, first, get a plumber in to pressure test the pipes he'll be able to tell you where the leak is occuring.
  4. Tiles don't leak but the pipes behind them do. You need to pull down those tiles and find that leak. Left unattended, the leak will continue, putting water behind the wall, growing mold, destroying sheetrock, support beams, flooring, electriclal wiring (could cause fire or just short out). Take it down now and fix it before anything really bad and irreparable happens. If the insurance company can prove that you knew about the leak for a time and did nothing, they can refuse to pay damages.
  5. You can use cement, but that won't correct your problem. You have a water leak somewhere that is causing the wet tiles. I suggest you call in someone who knows what to do (such as a plumber) because the wood under the tile is going to rot making your floor very weak. You also run the risk of mold and the awful mildew smell! Good Luck.
  6. Additional notes required. Is water coming from behind - which may indicate a burst pipe or is water getting from condensation/sink/bath/shower. The white cement, is called grouting. Which you can get in all colours under the rainbow. It may involve re-grouting. Sharp blade, gloves, and mask.
  7. first of all check your pipes inside the wall of your bath,i think the pipe is leaking, then only take further steps you are taking about.
  8. Hi, Er, I would need to know how you got a tile to "leak" Taps, tanks & hoses perhaps, but inert squares of ceramics ? If you mean that the grouting between the tiles is misbehaving, you just scrape out all the loose bits, mix up a box of grouting powder fom B&q, Homebase, wherever, and fill in the gaps. The round end of a metal nail-file works fine. Wipe off the inevitable bits on the tile surfaces, and job done. Bob
