If Im a bus boy, dishwasher, and cleaning bathrooms at a restaurant should I deserve tip?

If the waitress, hostess, and chef are getting tips shouldn't I also? I work 6-7 hours doing all of this. Getting all the bus tubs in the front than bringing it back to wash them all. Then stack all the plates, cups, silverware, and other object in there places. At the end of the day I have to go clean both bathrooms than take all the garbages. Clean all floors from the bathrooms, kitchen, and in the front. The minium wage is 8.00h I think more sense it has been raised. It used to be 7.50h last year, but for chef it's 9.00-10.00h. So I been thinking shouldn't I also receive even though I don't expect any at all? Note: I have never received a tip from hostees or waitress. One time this nice customer decided to give me tip sense I was working really hard. I thanked him.

  1. You need to ask management if the tips are supposed to be shared with everyone or if it's just the waitresses that get it. If it is just the waitresses, are they making less money than you? Alot of times they make less money, but the tips make up for what they don't make.
  2. I think you should. I have heard of some restaurants splitting the day's tips (or shift) between the hostess and the bus boy. The problem is that every establishment is different - and the manager has a lot to do with the tip system. I do know that waiters and waitresses typically are paid a lower wage to accomodate the fact that they will be paid tips (since this is standard). Think about this - maybe another restaurant in town is hiring (one who does tip their hard working bus boys). Also - maybe you have enough experience now to be a waiter now. Have you thought about looking around for other employment?

  4. No. You're doing your job. Don't like it, go to college and then Law school. On the other hand, I'd rather give you a tip then the waitress.
