How does hardwood flooring hold up in bathrooms?

I like the look of hardwoods in bathrooms but I dont know how well it would hold up . . . with the water from the bathtub/shower Should I just stick with tile?

2. You just have to make sure you put a layer of protectant on it. It keeps the water from seeping into the wood. Just like on a porch. Put on a sealer. Try this site.
3. Seal it and it should work fine. You may have to reseal it every so often, but it can be done.
4. its fine for a adult home, a problem for a home with children using the bath.
5. i am a carpenter who works mostly on retail remodels recently shaws has started useing a vinyl composite tile that simulates hard wood floors you can find it in many wood types and different stain colors it holds up to heavy traffic and nighly soaking from the floor cleaners . the nice part is its thin like tile so it can be installed with out removeing the fixtures . check with your local armstrong dealer and see if its an option
6. would really advice against it unless it is treated... or use teak... wood and water never mix well... and wood is ver hard to maintain due to the grains of the wood... higher chances of mold and mildew to grow in wood (cause very ugly unsanitary look after sometime "gets grey-greenish" and these stains are permernant!). People use wood if they maintain it really well... or in a bath that is not used often... which is why most tubs is not made in wood (except the japanese wood tub) but still need specialty wood.
7. There are some beautiful vinyl planks out there. They have the look of a wood floor, but wear like vinyl. Amtico has been making some of the nicest for years. There is also ceramic tile that looks like wood, but it is cost prohibitive. Check at any floorcovering store for vinyl plank, there is quite a variety out there.
8. not a good idea as with the moisture in a bathroom the floor becomes damp and you could slip!
9. If the hardwood is finished properly it will hold as well as tile. I love mine had it for 10 years, have had many children in and out of the home, using and abusing, still looks great. I found the best cleaner for it is Pledge for wood floors does not streak or have a dull residue.
