Interior Designer ?????

I live in North Jersey, how much do you think it will cost me for an interior designer to Design a 3 bedroom apartment, living room and the dinning room set ???? thank you

1. 25,000 to 35,000????????Just guessing.
2. It depends. If you want the designer to pick out the furniture and accesories, you will pay top dollar. Our neighbor had her living room done this last summer and paid in total for the designer and furnishings, 76K! On the other hand, we hired a top designer in Dallas and paid 2 years ago, $240 an hour for consultation. We paid her for an initial design AND then to basically go shopping with us. Most Interior Designers will either be full scale--they do the whole project and charge over full price for furnishings they pay wholesale for, plus their consultation time. Others charge by the hour--like the one we choose. Some furniture stores like Ethan Allen, Thomasville and local higher end stores often provide a designer free of charge to you providing you spend a minimum amount at their store--usually around 3k. If you have a certain budget, I would invest time talking to those that are provided by stores for free first. Ask to see their work AND visit for a while to see if you feel the designer is getting a "grasp" for your style and taste. Good luck and keep it fun!
3. Depends on the designer. I would find some design houses, call them up and ask them what a reasonable budget would be for this type of project. You will find that the prices will differ drastically. You may want to have them set up an appointment to come and look at your space and get a feel for each designer until you find one that has the same type of style mentality as you do. Then you can choose the one you want.
