Making interior design sketches look more realistic (done with watercolors)?
Hi all. Im making an interior deisgn sketch of my living room using watercolors. The problem that I have with water colors is that the pictures dont look "realistic". F.e. look at this picture: http://www.arch.columbia.edu/Students/Sum98/Devakul.Devawongs/Devakul.Devawongs.a1.4.jpg It was done with a PC program, and the chair looks very realistic. I have a Barcelona chair (the one in the pic) and want to do a watercolor sketch of it, how can I make the chrome legs look realistic like in the picture, with watercolors. for those of u who r designers, how can I make the sketch look realistic?

- It is very very hard to make it look realistic. Anyway, if you want to make it, make sure the object is BIG, dont make the object you want to paint is small. This will allow proper colour and water distribution. I think you need alot of help from an expert. This is seriously hard. I think using coloured pencil is alot better.
- It might be my browser or my monitor but I can see that the legs are metalic but the shading and the highlights make it look nothing like chrome! When painting using water color the colors used to represent chrome would be light blue to white. Make sure to highlight the structure using views of the top of the room or the more brightly lit areas, because of having more windows, and more lighted areas. Chrome will have a mirror finish and reflect especially direct lighting. The shaded areas of the chrome legs should reflect the floor or the lower dark areas. The legs in the picture appear to be a brushed metal and not chrome
