How do I photo shop the background of a picture so that it looks nice?

I was getting ready to go out and my friend took a picture of me...I look nice in the picture, but I was standing right in front of the entrance of the bathroom and you can see the toilet and the shower curtains and everything. What is a tactful way to blur or disguise the background so the picture still looks nice? When I blur the background, it looks kind of weird...Thanks!

3. If you use the magnetic lasso tool and go around the two of ye. once thats selected go to select inverse and then go to filter gaussian blur and try 4.5 pixels. See how that looks, if it needs to be blurred again try 3pixels on top of that
