What kind of design software should I get for work?
I need something to help me design professional & creative looking emails for our Email Marketing. Along with postcards, flyer's, posters I might need to design for work.

- The same stuff everyone else uses for that type of stuff. Office Suite (OpenOffice or MS Office) - Emails Photoshop/Illustrator/Fireworks/GIMP - Logos, Postcards, other graphics
- Adobe InDesign or Quark Xpress or Adobe Creative Suite. You should also use a vector drawing program. I frankly hate Illustrator so much I have gotten people to buy files created with Inkscape: http://inkscape.org But for layout at work you want InDesign, Quark Xpress or Adobe CS. Open Source usually makes the lawyers nervous because even "copyright law specialists" are reading or publishing advice about it which runs contrary to what the courts have now consistently found and that OS advocates have been saying all along -- the code is open. Logos and other creative materials created with it are NOT covered by the license and the user can charge whatever they like for them. Avoid the argument unless you are doing it freelance.
