(interior design) What color should I paint my walls?
So I'm recreating my room in a color scene of black, white, grey and red. I already have/or going to get a: bed spread (Vira Wang brand the platinum theme, black, white, grey) red chair (SKRUVSTA Swivel chair from ikea ) glass side table (KLINGSBO Side table, black, clear glass) long black dresser (6 drawer dresser with silver knobs, 2 down, 3 across) *a fish tank (Fluval Chi 5 Gallon Complete Aquarium Kit) my dad and i will make the stand for the tank (wood is black) a tall lamp (i don't know how to explain it but- a pole with a cone on top with two twistable lamps at different heights) a black colored mirror So basically the wood theme color is black. (but do you recommend white color instead of black because its more brighter and not so dark and sad looking) Anyways I'm stuck on the wall color. My original thought was to paint it grey (either dark or light) but now my second thought is it would be to plain and sad looking. I was thinking red but then...i just got stuck. Maybe my wall can have different shades of grey stripes across the wall or 3 walls the same color and one wall a different color. I hope this helps your answer. Thanks for everything!

- Maybe do like three medium/darker grey walls and one red one
- You should keep your walls basic colors and it allows you the ability to have your furniture be the focal point and makes changes much easier when you want to make them. I would not put stripes on the wall but would make all the walls white or light grey but one and make that one wall an accent wall with the color of red but be careful of the shade. I have a brick red accent wall and it pulls the color of my furniture and drapes into play. I didn't think I would like it when my decorator suggested it but once I saw it all together it looks great and I have had a lot of complements on it.
- Hmmmm...since you're a guy (I assume), we need to keep this manly-ish. I actually kinda like your idea of ombre stripes on the wall - this ombre` style is very current. (Color that is shaded or graduated in tone) I would do horizontal ombre stripes in gray. Sherwin Williams can help you achieve this look. This will be very, very cool. Now, at first thought, you'd think would be a "sad" look...but you need to take the red & the fish tank color into consideration for the overall look of the room. Repeat the red of the chair in accent pillows for the bed & wall decor. Repeat the red often, as the grays & black will "absorb" a lot of color. Stacked red books, etc. I would get a LARGE, bold & graphic stretched canvas something like this: http://www.art.com/products/p14113579-sa-i2798739/holger-leue-detail-of-norwegian-salmon-at-fish-market-bergen-norway.htm?sorig=cat&sorigid=4708&dimvals=4708-207268&ui=7b2dde51728948b4be3467fe593879af
