Why do Hotel bathrooms have the lightswitch on the outside of the room?

some home bathrooms have them too.

1. ease of maint, and so you can turn the light on before you enter,
2. This identical question cropped up a few weeks ago, it's simple, there is NO chance of electrocution, and therefore no cases being brought against the hotel.
3. Normally they have a little light on them too. This so if you do get up to go to the bathroom during the night you don´t have to feel your way along the walls to find the door. Also fire regulations
4. England doesn't allow any light switches or outlets in bathrooms. Electricity and water not a good combination.
