When to read Ayat al kursi?

i know Allah will protect you but when exactly in the day should u read it. Also thing is it Bidah (any type of innovation in Islam) if you read a dua from Prophet Moahmmed in a certain time that Prophet Mohamed (pbuh) did not say it in that certain time. For example if you read ayat al kursi before u sleep but maby Prophet Mohamed (pbuh) did not say it before he slept would it be Bidah as your adding something to Islam. Plz explain your answer.

  1. Scholars have said Ayat ul Kursi is among the most powerful verses in the whole Qur'an. I would not consider it bidah to recite any type of Dua because of time constraints. The Prophet pbuh informed the Sahaba to always keep the remembrance of Allah SWT passing through their lips. This is a part of Taqwa, and is a purification for the heart, and a block against fowl words from passing through. If any Dua is recited at any time. It is not an addition or innovation to Islam. Most scholars however begin with the very same opening of a khutba as the Prophet Muhammad pbuh. The example here is: "If an Imam, begins the khutba with the supplication of Muhammad pbuh, but delivers a sermon on a topic not known to be addressed by Muhammad pbuh. Is it innovation?" Definitely not "Hope this helps"
  2. Of course it's not bid'ah!! And ayatul kursi isn't a dua, it's a verse from the Quran. a'uthu billahi min ashaytani irrajim bism illahi irrahmani irrahim Sahih International: Allah - there is no deity except Him, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer of [all] existence. Neither drowsiness overtakes Him nor sleep. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what is [presently] before them and what will be after them, and they encompass not a thing of His knowledge except for what He wills. His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. And He is the Most High, the Most Great. I don't see anything wrong with saying that before you sleep. Or on the bus. Or while you're doing the dishes. Try to really think of the content of what you're saying instead of just chanting it like a mantra, that way you'll know what you can and can't say in what situation. But seriously, how can it be bid'ah?!!
  3. The other people answered the question. You should definitely read it after every fardh salat too! Now, I can't quote exactly, so I won't, so search up the hadith on Google. You'll see what I mean :)
  4. In the Quran, you should say Ayat al Kursi before you go to bed. (It will protect all night) And, right when you wake up. (Protect you all day)
  5. Read Ayatul Kursi after each salat. This will enable you to enter paradise immediately after death. Reciting Ayatul Kursi before sleep provides safety for your home during night. If you recite it before leaving home, you are protected till you return. And remember, the things prophet Muhammad (SAW) has advised can not be called bid'at. So Reciting Ayatul Kursi at above times is REWARDING. Muhammad Javed Iqbal
