Is this a good gaming computer?
So i have been shopping around on newegg.com for a while now and i think i got good enough components to build a gaming computer capable of running most modern games maxed out. Please tell me what you think. Everything totals around 1100$ AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition Deneb 3.4GHz 4 x 512KB L2 Cache 6MB L3 Cache Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor HDZ965FBGMBOX ASUS P8P67 (REV 3.0) LGA 1155 Intel P67 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard CORSAIR Vengeance 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model Rosewill BRONZE Series RBR1000-M 1000W Continuous@40°C, 80Plus Bronze Certified,Modular Cable Design,ATX12V v2.3/ EPS12V,SLI Ready,CrossFire Ready,Active PFC"Compatible with Core i7, i5" Power Supply MSI N560GTX-TI Twin Frozr II/OC GeForce GTX 560 Ti (Fermi) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card Western Digital Caviar Black WD1002FAEX 1TB 7200 RPM SATA 6.0Gb/s 3.5" Internal Hard Drive -Bare Drive COOLER MASTER HAF 922 RC-922M-KKN1-GP Black Steel + Plastic and Mesh Bezel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case SAMSUNG CD/DVD Burner Black SATA Model SH-S223C - OEM

- That's a great computer! Make sure to OC your cpu( SEE DOUBLE EDIT), i haev the same one and miens at 4.0ghz to lessen the bottleneck. The gpu is great I have it too and it's an overclocking BEAST and can reach near gtx 570 levels and handles all games fine, maxes out all games, including crysis 2( with some video tweaks here and there, aka no AA or blur) You'll max out any game(except metro 2033) which is still the exception for even the beastly of GPUs and you could SLI later on, however note that your second pci-e 2.0 slot runs at x4, so it will be slower than two GPUs running on both x16 slots, but the performance loss is minimal. edit: i play at 1920x1080 fyi double edit: i just noticed!! Your mobo will NOT support that CPU, that mobo is for Intel, you need to pick another mobo AM3+ that'll support your cpu...or pick an intel cpu, i'd recomment the 2500k, it's very futureproof and can be OC'd to 5ghz
- Hmm all I had to see was the Phenom II x4 and and I already know your set. Phenom II X4- Wow, really good.. L3 cache.. 3.4ghz. Wonderful great for gaming Asus Intel Mobo- Great motherboard. Except... It's Intel.. Your processor is AMD. You need to change it. I recommend getting an Asus. They have so many wonderful features and they are the top Motherboard Brand. Corsair Ram- Great Brand.. Dual Channel 8gb more than enough. You dont need to use a lot of money on RAM. It doesnt effect your Gamin Performance that well. 6gb would be enough but if you have the money, Go ahead :) Rosewill 1000w- Good Brand, 1000w which is more than enough. Especially since its 80+ Certified and is modular... Great great pick. MSI GTX 560ti-WOW. Great card, Great Pick especially with the Twin Frozr II design. And its DDR5 and DX11 supported. That card will last like 2-3 years. Great Card. Western Digital 1tb- Great. More than enough. Cooler Master Case- Wow, nice case. Very stylish..nice cooling. Just Overall Great DVD Burner- Good burner. Dont really need to focus that much on it. Overall- Great futureproof system. Change the motherboard though, Intel doesnt go with a AMD Processor. I like everything about it. If i had you budget i would definitely get something similar. Good job and remember.. Either Change the Motherboard or the Processor and if you change the processor make sure its socket LGA 1155. Good luck and Happy Gaming!
- Good luck trying to put an AMD processor in a LGA1155 board. You'd want either i5 2500K or i7 2600K. Otherwise yes when you have the right processor, top notch. Note, only get the K series because they are the only LGA1155 processors that you can overclock.
