Do house buyers nowadays expect a cooker hood in the kitchen?
I am replacing my kitchen prior to selling my house. Looking at pictures of new kitchens, they usually seem to have an extraction hood thing over the hob. Is that what buyers will expect nowadays? I'm in the UK.

- Unless the kitchen is absolutely dire, then it's not worth replacing it to sell. But yes, they do seem to like a chimney hood style extractor.
- I personally don't like the hood thing, but some do. If you are redoing the kitchen and really don't want to put that item in, don't. It is usually not a deal-breaker if a kitchen does not have a hood. They will notice and appreciate good counter tops, appliances, floors and cupboards. Sink should be in a clean attractive appearance. Possibly replace faucet/handles. Good Luck on the remodel and the sale of your house.
- I think most people expect one in a kitchen but its not something that would put me off depending on the situation of the house. The reason I say that is I live in a rural area and without an extractor cooker hood my kitchen would be full of all the beasties on the planet,
- Yes, most people will look for one. This is a stove vent which will remove vapors while cooking (steam, smells, heat). They can be purchased as one unit and installs easy if wiring is in the area. You could also put in a microwave above the stove which most have a vent with it.
- i would but they are not that expensive to buy them
