Do Conservatives not like these Liberal ideals of mine?

I believe in personal freedoms. I believe that drugs should be at least decriminalized, as I don't want to spend $30k a year locking up people because they choose to abuse their bodies. I don't care about any marriage between two, or even more consenting adults. I believe women should have the right to do what they want with their body, I am anti-abortion, but I can't believe in personal freedoms and be anti-choice at the same time. I believe that Governments or anyone should be tracking me, or my communications without legal reason to do so. I see no reason to have armed military members in any country outside of my own, unless either attacked, defending an ally, or stopping a mass murdering Government. I don't like "Big Government", I think Government along with private charities should work together and take care of all of those that can't take care of themselves. I believe in second chances, but individual responsibility. I think corporations should not be rewarded for pollution, or cutting the labor force, but rather for innovation, and local hiring. I believe in a fair day's pay for a fair day's work. I believe all immigrants should have a fair, easy and affordable process to legal citizenship. I think all immigrants should work if of age and able, and should not receive assistance for 5 years unless maybe horribly injured or something. I am most of all for humanity first, money second. A lot of nothing in the answers, including Xenophobia. Oh, FYI I'm 29, have a house, car and a good full-time job...so whatever. "Corporations exist to generate profits, without that as the primary function they will not work." I agree, and I am all for hard work = profits, but I am also paying your fair share back into the system, and not getting those profits at the harm of others.

  1. ok what ever you say.
  2. It sounds like a 16 year old who has no idea on how the real world is like wrote this and thats our biggest beef with liberals. You are too idealistic and refuse to realize that the world isn't like that and will never be like that.
  3. never happen
  4. Bwhahaha! Yes!
  5. I can live with that. Especially the drug part, I find it a complete waste of money that the state prosecutes people and burns up thousands and thousands of tax payer dollars in doing so, over a drug situation that wasn't even worth 1/100th of the amount the state spent trying to lock them up. In retrospect it's stupid to convict some with 100 dollars in pot, because you will spend thousands detaining them, you will have to pay for the judge, the jury, the prosecutors, and since the defendant can't afford a lawyer the state provides that for them, which costs more money.
  6. We believe in achieving almost the same things. The difference is the how to go about it.
  7. Dream on. The reality of our system is clear to any thinking person. As an example, compare our capitalist system to the Islamic system: -The United Nation’s Human Development Index ranks nations by life expectancy, literacy, education and GDP per capita. The top 50 encompass 700 million in Judao-Christian nations; Muslim nations encompass 5 million people (out of 1.5 billion people). -Nobel SCIENCE prizes awarded to America in last 50 years? 171. ALL Muslim nations? 3. -Number of universities in US and UK? 3,600. ALL Muslim nations? 600 (for 1.5 billion people). -The UN's Arab Development Report on books translated per million people: Hungary 519; Spain 920; Israel 380; Arabia 4. -Tunis Arab League: 76% of Arabs, ages 15 to 45, are illiterate. -Patents are evidence of a nations creative activities: new drugs, medical care, electronics, satellites, the internet, food processing, cars -- everything we need to live a civilized life: Total world patents (2007)? 3.8 million. America holds 2.1 million. ALL Muslim nations combined hold 1,000. -The UN’s Gender Empowerment Measure ranks nations by women’s equality: Muslim nations rank at the bottom. But let reality intrude upon your dreams.
  8. Not a con myself but I'll play. I tend to agree with you on all items with these exceptions: They are some legitimate reasons for us to have troops stationed overseas, but not many. I would reduce these numbers by 80% I also don't want them to intervene with a genocide and believe other nations can tend to that. Corporations exist to generate profits, without that as the primary function they will not work. At this point in time the US should place a moratorium on all immigration.
  9. Conservatives hate freedom and hate what's good. They exist to mock those above them. They do this because they KNOW they're worthless and thus don't want anyone else to succeed.
  10. You are just a child, but at least you are thinking. Many children don't even think, they just play with toys. When you grow up and get a Job, you will become a Conservative. Good luck.
  11. There's much that I agree with, and much that I do not. I'm with you when it comes to illegal drugs. Marriage carries with it certain rights, benefits and obligations. It's one of the reasons gov't is in the marriage business. While I'm not a big fan of gay marriage or polygamy, I'm OK with it, provided that doesn't necessary mean that gov't benefits increase to these couples, or the survivors of the deceased same sex partner. I'm all in favor of women having freedom to choose, but remember that choosing to have sex is a choice, and accepting the responsibilities of your actions (which you also approve of). It seems just wrong, evil even, that an innocent unborn baby must pay with its life because the mother doesn't want to be inconvenienced by the consequences of her choices. Gov't tracking - I'm pretty much with you. I also think gov't should not be tracking or limiting choices in what I eat, whether I have health insurance or not, etc. I do however see a reason for military personal and bases elsewhere. Yes, we can trim back in stable areas of the world, like much of western Europe, but other places, I think it's important to stay there. Not liking Big Gov't - again, I'm with you. Second chances - Hey, we Conservatives are big believers in redemption and personal responsibility. Corporations shouldn't be rewarded for pollution or cutting labor force. Neither should they be over-regulated and punished because they are successful. They should not be treated as a necessary evil, but should be celebrated for the wealth they create and spread. I believe the free market should set the value of labor, not the gov't. I believe Congress should decide what our immigration policy shall be, and then ENFORCE IT! I believe in Freedom, and the responsibility that comes with that, first.
  12. "I believe that Governments or anyone should be tracking me, or my communications without legal reason to do so." I assume you meant NOT be tracking me... Otherwise you sound pretty conservative and not liberal at all. Liberals WANT to keep tabs on your every move and what you watch, read and eat. Conservatives are against big government, liberals want government to be the nanny. Liberals don't like individual responsibility. Liberals hate corporations and want to tax them to death so no local hiring or innovation is possible with them. Liberals want to get a fair days pay for not working. Liberals want an open border, conservatives want them to wait in line and do it legally. (Reagan gave millions amnesty, remember?) And lastly, who do you think gives more to charity? Liberals or Conservatives? Here is a clue, Obama and Biden gave less than .001% of their income to charity. Palin gave 10%, McCain gave 8%. Are you sure you are a liberal? You sure sound confused. Maybe you should go to a few conservative meetings and just listen to them instead of the liberal propaganda like you clearly have been.
  13. if you dont want big government...how can you want someone tracking you all the time? if your for a woman's right to kill her baby in the womb...how can you be for humanity? just like a liberal...you want it both ways
  14. I agree .. except on the last excerpt. Nature first, money last. Even though I'm not religious... I think Jesus Christ said it best.... "The love of money is the root of all evil". Money can allow a man in Thailand to say he owns a forest in Utah. Money will have your military across the world for reason other than the ones you mentioned. Money leads to corporations polluting and eliminating jobs. Money leads corporations to create a 3 month light bulb when they can create a 6 year light bulb, which is technically stifling innovation. Money can have immigrants flocking to other areas due to power vacuums and food problems. Which is not due to not having the food... but is due to not having the money to purchase the food. Homeless people sleeping in the elements, not due to not enough shelter... but not having the money to purchase. Government should be available to serve the logistical needs of the people. Not to manage the ponzi scheme we call currency. . . . [Update] I went back and read some the answers... there is your problem right there. People allow their intellect and reason to be guided by their passions. Instead of allowing their intellect and reason to govern their passion. Partisans are so predictable.... their first mean of an answer is always character assassination. Discredit, defame, demonize, and dehumanize.
  15. les sigh Neither side carries the unspoiled banner of morality higher than the other. It's just simply two different philosophies of how the economy should work and how much involvement the government should have in daily lives.
