What is best? Headboard only? Or Headboard+Footboard?
I am about to order an iron bed for the master bedroom in my 1940s bungalow home. (See the bed here: http://www.charlesprogers.com/cottage-bed-p-29.html?cPath=6_67.) I am trying to decide between ordering the headboard alone, or the full bed (including footboard). I've looked at several design websites, and very few beds have footboards. What is the trend right now, in terms of interior design?

- I think the more important question is how tall the person is that will sleep in the bed. Maybe that person would rather have the foot of the bed free instead of trying to stretch out and having their feet hit the footboard.
- the footboard is not necessary.
- If the bedroom is not very large, skip the footboard. My BR is 13' x 15'. I have a vintage wood bed w. a footboard but it is harder to change the linens. Footboards also cause skinned shins if you bump into them. Your bedding will show nicer without one as it will drape over the foot of the bed. .......................................................................................................................................................
- The problem with "trends" is they go away, and something new replaces them. Get what you want to have for years, not months. Or plan on another new bed when the trend changes.
