What were some of the technological innovations of the Civil War?
What were some of the technological innovations of the Civil War? What new types of weapons were used? I've found that the Confederacy were able to be successful with submarines, and that a type of gatling gun was created. Also I believe there were also rifles that could fire multiple bullets in a row instead of having to reload every time. Was there other things I was missing? Would the use of trains count as a technological innovation? Thanks in advance to any answers given!

- Steam boats and trains were big then i believe.
- Other than the ones you mentioned: - A new bullet invented by Claude Minie and named the "minie ball." - iron-clad ships - torpedoes, they were mines attached to a ship to sink it. They called them torpedoes but they weren't the self-propelled torpedoes like today. - Ambulance Corps - the Union Army developed the ambulance corps as a way to collect wounded from the battlefield. Trains weren't a technological innovation of the Civil War, but it was the first time Americans took advantage of them during war.
- Modern guns and artillery
