Where are good homeless shelters or soup kitchens in the Twin Cities that are good for a family to volunteer?
My husband, I, and our two kids, ages 8 and 11, want to volunteer either regularly or as a one time thing, at a homeless shelter or soup kitchen in the Twin Cities area. I have found some homeless shelters, but I am also interested in finding some soup kitchens and couldn't find any on a google search. Anyone know of any or have any experience volunteering at them? Within Minneapolis, St. Paul area.

- In case you don't get any first-hand accounts -- call your local United Way and ask if they have a list of all nonprofits that provide hot food in your area. Then call each and ask if they have minimum ages for volunteers -- many, and maybe all, have an age limit of 16. - The volunteer section on Craigslist is a good place to start. Here is the link for Minneapolis: http://minneapolis.craigslist.org/vol/
