Interior design advice - guest bedroom?

I have a guest bedroom that has a black cast iron double bed frame, white double wardrobe (Ikea Hemnes), white bedside tables matching the wardrobe, cream walls and cream curtains. I have just moved house and therefore cannot afford to buy new furniture and I want to keep the cream walls so advice required on what else I can do to put some colour into the room... What colour bedding and accessories does anyone recommend? I don't want a bland room but don't want something too personal as it is the guest room so could have a whole mixture of ages staying i.e. parents, or mates! I can afford to buy brand new bedding, throws, cushions, bedside lamps and accessories. The master bedroom is crisp white bedding, cream walls, oak furniture which splashes of deep red so don't want the guest room to be the same. Ideas/links gratefully appreciated as I am stuck for ideas! Thank you!

  1. my idea would be to make the theme "futuristic" or "aquatic" by adding bluish paint and blue beddings with bright colours.

  3. i would say some colored blanket throws to put on the bed; and maybe by some mosaic vases and such. maybe some colored candles and a good candel holder to match it. just have fun; if it doesnt look good - you can always return it. home goods or bed bath and beyond is where id start.
  4. How about adding either green, brown or blue? Here's a link to some bedding and lamps. Good luck!
  5. For color scheme, I would go with tans, taupe & sage to go with your cream & black. . . keep it neutral & restful . . . For the nightstand- I'd put a wrought iron black lamp with a cream shade to complement the bed frame- Hotel type bed cover . . .the key for you I think, will be to find throw pillows with color you love- these can then be the accent colors to use for accessories. You can add a lot of color to the room with just a couple of throw pillows on the bed. All you will really need is a couple of accessories to punch it up- a colored vase (pick a color from the throw pillow)- maybe on the dresser, with twigs or faux seagrass- A couple of picture frames matted in your accent colors, or with design inside the frame that matches your colors. Again, I think sages and taupes would look really good with the cream & black . . . http://www.overstock.com/Home-Garden/Natural-Linen-Duvet-Cover-Set-with-Bedskirt/2066644/product.html? http://www.target.com/Wooden-Table-Lamp-Coffee-Black/dp/B000OYLEAM/ref=cm_reviews_dp_seemore/602-3093999-9955840?ie=UTF8&coliid=&frombrowse=1&alt%5Fview=custReviews&asin=B000OYLEAM#R1XWHE6UDOUNSR Also, do you have wood floors, or neutral carpet? If so, try to find room in your bedding budget to get a rug that coordinates with the bedding and throw pillows.
  6. Seing as you are an Ikea shopper (like me!) you could buy a colourful rug from there and experiment with different sized cushions, with funky colours and patterns on them. Also from Ikea, you could maybe get a 'KRABB' mirror. They come in packs of 2 all for £6.99! They are super stylish! Good luck! xx
  7. Just choose a couple of colors you like for the bedding- anything goes with the cream & black. Love the bedside lamps in this pic- think something like this would look great. Would go more neutral than the mauve pillows, and I know your dressers are white, but you get the idea, I hope- (click on bedroom 4, and colorize the walls cream) http://benjaminmoore.com/bmpsweb/portals/bmps.portal?_nfpb=true&_windowLabel=sidebarportlet_1_2&sidebarportlet_1_2_actionOverride=%2Fbm%2Fcms%2FContentRenderer%2FselectSideBarArticle&sidebarportlet_1_2isNonSecure=true&sidebarportlet_1_2NodeUUID=%2FBEA+Repository%2F30001&_pageLabel=fh_explorecolor
  8. The list is endless. You're blessed with a neutral room so you can do what you want with it. Green is a restful and currently trendy colour. There are some beautiful greens around at the moment. You may want to be bold though and go for bright colours although I would stick to something quite tame ie, green that I've metioned, browns, golds are very 'in' at the moment. Why not have a browse round a good quality bedding department ie John Lewis for inspiration.
  9. Add icy blue in comforter and accents. It will look great with the black bed.
  10. http://www.dunelm-mill.com/category/Bedding/ try this website, click on bedding and have a look at page 3-Varese, page 4-Madison, page 6 Shadow Floral and Rose Trail, and i think it was page 10 its called Peony Trail, all these would put some lovely colour in your and also would be suitable for parents and friends! They also do co-ordinating accessories and cushions etc so easy to match!
  11. i would surgest black and white theme.. very modern at the moment jst a few assesories like white bedding with a few black cushions..vases..throws..lamp and maybe do a feature wall in black and white wallpaper very stylish!!!
  12. The best way to decorate a room is choose what you feel will be neutral and pick what you like, you do not have personal a room to make it warm and comfortable but your ideas are going to be the best ones.
