did 2010 produce any new innovations in tennis gear?
strings, racket technology, shoes?

- Interesting question. Of course a lot of gradual change and evolution. But in new innovation I can think of several things. First, really 2009, was Head's use of D30 in their racquets under the umbrella of "youTek". That is a pretty amazing addition. A racquet that varies it's flex depending on how hard one hits is definitely a new innovation. And for 2010, Wilson's use of Basalt fiber under the BLX banner is also new. I wonder what percent of Basalt is really in the fiber, but it is a pretty innovative idea. And the last innovative thing I can think of is some guy in California has a little roller tool that quickly rolls over your strings and squares out the pattern. I saw it at Indian Wells and then never saw it again. But is is pretty innovative. All the other stuff, like Babolat's RPM Blast string is good stuff, but is evolutionary, not innovative.
- Of course!
- There was a lot of new stuff like this Wilson Six One racquet that I think Federer was using: http://www.midwestsports.com/wilson-federer-six-one-tour-blx-tennis-racquet/p/WRT70011U/
