Ok so need help with room colors?

Ok im sorry but I dont have a digital camera so I cant show you the color of the carpet but....I have a spare room that I am painting and it has this rich red (slightly bright) carpet in it and I want to do an accent wall and then the other 3 walls I want a off white or tan color but I cant think of what the accent wall should be! This is hard for me cause I am usually good at interior design stuff lol It is a spare bedroom and has a big window that lets in a lot of natural light and the room is about 10X10 I think I usually like more modern looking things and we dont have anything really in the bedroom so its pretty much a clean slate

  1. You should play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family & color name, the "painted" rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours: http://sherlink.sherwin.com/swapp/color_visualizer/index.jsp Based on your description, I suggest a blue-gray - like "granite peak."
  2. Well you could do a couple different things. Depending on how bold you are. white walls and a red carpet, that's pretty bold, so i would think maybe do black and white strips or something along those lines for a accent wall. Going with a toned down look then tan, and do sponging with gold. It's also hard not knowing your tastes. You might just have to look at magazines or something for ideas.
  3. Gray! It will look so classy and after you put hard work and sweat into it you will want it to last awhile. Red, Gray, and White/Off-white are distinctive and look awesome with lots of natural light, glass, and mirrored decorative accents.
  4. Accent wall is usually the 'blank' wall in the bedroom [ no doors, windows, closet, or other built-ins ]. Suggest painting all three walls white or ivory, and sponge painting [ or comb, etc. ] over the accent wall in gold or silver; or stripes of ivory with gold or silver. These colors are all neutral without being boring, so you can add anything that goes with the red carpet.
