What are these curtains called and how to sew them?
I found these gorgeous curtains, and I really wish to sew something similar for my apartment. The thing is that I don't know how to achieve that special draping, and I could not find a tutorial as I don't know what the curtains are called. I would really appreciate if someone could tell me how to sew such curtains or help me find some kind of tutorial. Thanks in advance! http://homes-designing.com/furniture/category/bedroom-interior/ (Scroll down to the 19th picture)

- the red & white gingham ones?? sorry it took ages to load and i got fed up scrolling and counting lol if it is them, they are just normal curtains, they are made with lightweight material, and instead of one and a half window width for each curtain panel, which is the normal, its double size, you pull them back, with tie backs and then pull a lot of it out to drape that way i have this style in 2 bedrooms
- They are only simple gingham check, rod pocket fabric panels, with a lot of the extra fabric pulled up into a tie back. Basic, simple, common window treatment. Google "making rod pocket curtains"
- I'm on a public library computer and the page won't load for me. However as far as curtain making is concerned there are many, many websites with curtain making tutorials. The reality is that even elaborately draped curtains start out as long rectangular panels and they are simply draped over finials, rods, tie-backs and the like and poofed out and arranged by eye. Most of the time it's improvised according to taste, you could take any panel and pull parts up and poof others out and arrange the panel drapery the way you want or the way it looks in your picture. For sewing instructions for making panels, shades, pleated drapes and many other home dec items my favourite site is Alternative Windows. They tell how to measure and make many types of window coverings: http://www.alternative-windows.com/index.htm Here's a few pointers on draping plain panels: http://www.dummies.com/how-to/content/using-curtains-and-draperies-in-your-home-decor.html Also: http://www.window-treatments-made-easy.com/ http://interiordec.about.com/od/makingcurtains/Make_Your_Own_Curtains_and_Valances.htm
