What should i do with my life?

This will be long but bare with me please! Well first thing's first, I'm 15 years old, and i dropped out of school in 7th grade and haven't done anything since. Big mistake, in about 10 months when i turn 16 i will be going to a community college to study for my G.E.D. But before that, i've got to get my license, so i can get there. I then have to get a job to help with tuition and keep gas in the car, and to help my family, because right now were in bad shape. I then have to decide what i want to do with my life, so i can take classes and find colleges/schools to go to to major in my profession, while i get my G.E.D of course. Long story short, i have all of these things that i am told i am good at or could have a career in, all of which i love The one i favor in particular is singing. I love it, i know it's unrealistic, and is one of the hardest careers i have to choose from, to get involved in. So, i'm kind of ruling that out, even though i know that will always be what i'll love the most. I love art / drawing. It is a great outlet for me, and i know it isn't that hard to get into with the right tools and enough practice/skill. I could do advertising, be and art teacher, anything. And there are art schools everywhere. I love photography, everywhere i'm going i see a piece of an amazing photo somewhere. I would love to be a photographer, I'm not sure how good i am at taking pictures, i just love too. Which brings me to directing, i love making short videos and what not. I also love to write. Author wise, that is. I have creative ideas that i think most people can relate too. And fantasy of course. I love designing things, interior or fashion, i've done this for parties and am told it looked good. I also ADORE cosmetology. as in makeup hair and nails. That is the second hardest profession for me to get into, yet the second best thing i love to do. I would love to go to new york and what not, and do makeup for major movie stars and things like that. I love working with people, i can't sit still for long, i'm very energetic and creative, i'm also very shy, but i get over it quickly. And i want to be on the go everyday, in a big city, and have a job i would love doing. Something major or glamorous if you will. I know everyone does, but i think i could make this work with the right decisions. Thank you all so much! Also, if you have any tips on these professions or how to get into them, it'd be very much appreciated!

  1. first of all go back to school all the other things just figure it out later but your future comes first.
  2. Why is cosmetology hard to get into? Most beauty schools are fairly cheap (compared to other types of training) and you'll make money straight out of school. I agree with the other poster that you should definitely get your G.E.D. first, but then - try the beauty school. I have known a lot of hair stylists and one thing I've noticed - they never have empty pockets.:) You may not start out styling TV shows right away, but you won't go hungry while you work on it - everyone has hair (almost! Ha ha.) (I know you didn't mention hair but I think you might try that too - it's probably the easiest one to get work with - you can do the makeup and nails on the side.) I think it would be an ideal way to support any one of those other creative endeavors. (When I was getting my bachelor's degree, I had a pal who was working her way through my program by cutting hair. She had been doing it for years and now was finally ready to get a degree. She cut hair at her home in the eves. I also had another friend who lived all over the world - and cut hair on the side. I think it would be a very good starter career for you.)
  3. First, having that AA at your age is impressive - most HR people will recognize that and give you a lot of shots other fresh grads just won't get. It doesn't matter what it's "in" because an AA is so short it's not really in anything. It's general education. Congrats on that achievement - be proud of it. Your age is a barrier to finding many "upgrade" jobs. Until you're 18 many places won't be too interested. I know, it's not fair. But it is how it is. That being the case, stay in college until you're 21. With the head-start you have, you could have a master's degree at 21. Working at McDonalds. No problem there - do you have any idea what some of the people at corporate make? And they too started on the counter. That's only useful though if you want to work in fast-food. Blow off anyone that thinks any job is beneath them - they are most likely unemployed. People that work at McDonalds earn more than people that lay around slacking in front of video games. You can go to just about any 4-year college and be 2 years ahead on the degree. If you want to do journalism then you're going to need a 4-year (bachelor's) degree. It's the minimum in that field. Getting on at USPS is really hard. You know all of those veterans out in the world? They get extra points to move to the top of the list for being veterans. But, if you want to work for USPS then at least try. Cosmetology - wonderful field of work and always a job to be had. Also very creative and artistic so you will feel that reward. The pay isn't the greatest even if you own the place but money doesn't buy happiness. If you follow that cosmetology route AND work on a bachelor's degree; you could look at an MBA program after that to set you up to open your own salon (or manage someone else's) and do pretty well for yourself. What you really might benefit from though is narrowing down your list of things you want to do. Your present objectives are pretty wide and unrelated.
