What must be the time delay between green lights on successive blocks to keep the traffic moving continuously?

The stoplights on a street are designed to keep traffice moving at 24 mi/h. The average length of a street block between traffic lights is about 80m.

  1. It would just be the time it takes to go between lights. How many seconds does it take to go 80m when you're travelling 24mph? 24mph = 10.73m/s So you travel 80m in 7.46 seconds and that is the answer.
