Does bathroom fittings bought in US can be fitted in India?

I need to buy few bathroom designer accessories like shower tabs etc. Will that fit on the pipes / taps in India. I am not sure if there is any gaudge difference.

1. Fitted in India? I don't know, India is rather crowded. lol But seriously, there probably is a difference in the fittings, but I'm sure that some sort of adaptors are available.

3. No, the fitting as well as the water pressure things are completely different gauge (metric v US) and shipping them there would be prohibitive (these are heavy!). Same as European ones sold in Europe (and not made for export) can not be used easily.
