I need help in kitchen/dining design please?
I chose a dark cherry cabinets for the kitchen we are remodeling right now. It is a U-shaped kitchen. My husband keeps telling me that the color I picked will darken a small kitchen and makes it smaller. Do you have a suggestion on what type of granite countertop to pick? The color of the floor tile is white with a hint of tan-ish or light brown color on it. I want the kitchen to look contemporary, bright, and also what type of dining set I should pick. Post some photos as well please. Thank you.

- You need to decide what you really want. I agree with hubby..what you are saying you want and your colour choice seem very different. I suggest you google kitchens with dark cabinetry and kitchens with light cabinetry for research before deciding. Then..once you have decided, bring home a sample of the cupboards/flooring/wall colour/counter and set each against each other and look at it over a 24 hour period in different lights. Place the cabinet sample vertical/flooring horizontal...you get the idea. I just think you should really take your time as this is a lot of money and you need to be sure of the look you are choosing. The dimensions/layout/adjoining rooms will also have a part in your colour/design choice.
- I would stick in the tan color for the counter top. A nice color would be (Clear water) or (Winsome Hue) by Behr. Just make sure you get a min of a semi gloss so it will be easier to clean.

They would help balance the dark cabinets. You could either go with a lighter dining set to help brighten the room or stick with cherry. I think lighter wood looks more casual where as cherry tends to be more formal. So alot would depend on the feel you want. http://furniturefromhome.com/products/first-category/Dark-Cherry-Dining-Room-Furniture-Set-Sets-Formal-New-coa100571
