What is the term used to describe designing the interior of a home?

To be specific, the process where you design the interior of the home and install all the lighting, furniture, and appliances. Basically making the home livable in. What is the proper term used to describe this? is it remodeling?

1. It is actually called interior design - that encompasses furnishings, lighting and everything that makes a home liveable
2. interior designer designs it on paper. The "installer" installs his portion. Not all installers install everything so you could have a few installers. 2 or more different people(you will notice on the amount you have to pay on their bills)
