How can I decorate my apartment in a country theme on a budget?

I'm moving in with my boyfriend and really want to have a country theme. I've already started with glass bowels with apple and cinnamon scented petals and have rooster kitchen towels and wooden spoons. I've been looking for more ideas online but I feel like I'm all over the place and still have no solid ideas! I'm also on a somewhat tight budget and need to shop cheap. Any suggestions?

  1. Honestly, I'd look at eBay. You can also consider making your own home made crafts. There are plenty of to-do things on the internet, so I'd head over your favorite search engine to locate some ideas. You could also find a local thrift store and see what they have and build it over time.
  2. You need to have a final product in mind. Get a magazine and find a picture of a room you adore. Then go to work on transforming your space to look like the picture. Visit used furniture stores, Goodwill, antique stores and garage sales. You will be looking for specific things. Go with a list, but be open to change your mind if you see something even better. That is the only way to shop when you are easily distracted by the vast volume of stuff you see. I am that way too, so I think it a good plan.I wish you were close by so I could donate some things to you that I am tired of. Good luck!
  3. There are a lot of low cost items at ltdcommodities.com or lakeside.com. Good luck!!
  4. Hi mustangcutie, I don't know where you live. However, if you have a 99cent/Dollar Tree store nearby hit them up! I like your rooster/wooden spoon theme. You could try and find a local horse ranch/border and ask for some old horseshoes. Bandanna's could be tied/hot-glued around lampshades/bases and well as rope. Second-hand stores could have old cowboy boots and hats. One idea for the old cowboy boots is to place a cylinder vase inside with fresh flowers or vining plant w/moss tucked around the top. Try a craft store for ideas too. Another inexpensive idea (found at local craft store) is purchase some clear glass plates, enough country themed fabric ie; roosters, 2-3 small foam paint brushes and the decoupage paint that is for glass. I have done this for myself and gift giving. For 4 plates w/supplies it cost me under $20.00. Good luck, be creative and remember it takes time and patience to achieve your dream home! 6. If you can paint one wall a nice country yellow, this will save on paint cost, and still give you a big impact on a room. also try Google-ing county apartments and see what comes up in images. Also turquoise and which can be cool colors for a country theme too (see picture on attached blog). Good Luck, and congrats!!! http://blog.forrent.com/apartment-decorating-tips/power-color-for-home-decor-turquoise
