What color to paint a SMALL bathroom with RED accent tiles?
Hi there, I have a very small bathroom, right now it is all white granite counter tops and all . Fixtures are stainless steel , and there is a nice bright red glass tile detail around the sink area and in the shower. The walls are now painted white , but I am finding it just a little too bright. I just could not imagine any other pain color matching with the red tile, any suggestions? Thanks!

- brown
- you could add red or black stripes to the walls. vertical if you want a lively bathroom or horizontal if you want it to be a place of relaxation
- wall paper?
- Maybe you could do a nice tan like how they did in this kitchen http://www.susanjablonmosaics.com/userfiles/image/bijou-kitchen-bksplsh-4-500.jpg Or maybe you could do a nice pop of color like this lime green http://www.finehomebuilding.com/CMS/uploadedimages/Images/Homebuilding/Departments/021199dg078-01_lg.jpg Or maybe do a nice cream color. Or you can even cover the whole room in the red glass tile. Hope it helped.
- Oh, you have got a problem. How about beige? Or perhaps a grey hue with a blue cast..very light. There are grey/yellowish hues, not right for your room I would think; be sure to try a blue-ish/grey. Best luck.
- I'm assuming when you say "bright red" the color has a cool undertone, not warm (w/hint of orange or brown). Choose a cool complimentary color. Do not use creams or yellow-based colors. They will clash with both the red, and the white (also a cool color). Try something in the realm of greys, keeping in mind greys have undertones as well. Or a cool neutral color. Go to the paint dept and ask for examples of cool neutrals, take them home, and have fun imagining what your new bathroom will look like with each one! Have fun! ps, keep the colors in light shades, to give the illusion of a larger bathroom. Stay away from dark tones.
- I would use a soft, medium grey, and have black accent pieces with maybe one or two items to pick up the red.
- Paint your walls Benjamin Moore color #2154-40, York Harbor Yellow. Accent with accessories in Black and White. Have the red be a splash of color, not the main color.
- I agree - add some stripes - a goldy- beige would match. here's a video on painting stripes on walls: http://www.ustripeit.com/
