How do you feel about unisex bathrooms in schools?

The state of Florida is considering having unisex bathrooms in public schools in order to save money. This seems to be opening up opportunities for sexual assault and voyeurism. We already see in the news stories about shoe cameras and "up the skirt" shots being posted on the internet. This seems thoughtless, irresponsible and even dangerous.

3. This...is frightening. I guess if they want their students skipping class to have sex in the bathroom, or if middle schoolers are getting curious... This is just asking for trouble. I bet there will be a rise in teen pregnancy there if this happens. That's SUCH a bad idea.

5. I couldn't agree more. I would not let my child go to a school where there was any place they could be alone with a person of the opposite sex. It is wrong of them to even consider. Not to mention-kids are having sex at much younger ages now. Some as young as 11 years old!! The last thing we need is a place for them to "meet up" during what should be class hours.

7. I for one second the notion that unisex bathrooms would be a good economical cost-saving idea. It is rediculous to punish society for a few bad apples with "shoe cameras". Not to mention this would raise the probablity of getting being able to get a blowjob on the DL!

10. when i was in year 2 we had unisex bathrooms , and even at that age boys would look over the cubicle. imagine what theyd be like now :S
11. It's unlikely that it will get passed here in Florida. A lot of money is spent on education and that is an area the state will not garner liability. The risk factor for liability and lawsuits is too high for the state. They are well-aware of the headache this could cause. This idea has only been presented as an alternative thus far as I'm aware. It likely won't gain much momentum.
12. You know, i think it's retarded to have that, because people don't need to share unisex bathrooms it's great if theres a trans gender, i think they can go for any bathroom they please, but for most boys and girls to share bathrooms it would lead to more rapes, and sex, and drugs.
13. If they have one at a time restrooms with lockable doors this be acceptable. To those of you saying it will induce curious children to take a peek, I agree. But to those of you saying they can meet up to have sex during class, it's not impossible for a kid to enter the wrong bathroom on purpose to meet up with someone. In other words, they could do it now, without unisex bathrooms.

15. We had unisex bathrooms in my high school and that was OK. Girls didn't mind it at all, and none of my buddies ever acted like a perv. And it was kinda cool cause bathrooms were the normal place to hang out without the teachers noticing. The only problem was that everybody was smoking in the bathrooms and you couldn't see sh!t after a while, cause the ventilation was bad. So chill, no one's gonna rape you.
16. it really wouldnt matter if there was like one half for girls and one half for guys devided by a wall, provided the people are responsible enough and not just stupid pervs.
17. I think kids in school are not mature enough to have unisex bathrooms. The kids would make a huge deal out of it and I'm going to bet 20 bucks the parents wouldn't like the idea either. Just less privacy for both genders, they need to be separated to feel comfortable with their own gender. There also would be many cases of unneeded activity(If you catch my drift) It is a very interesting idea but i would think it come with various problems.

26. I agree with you. Unisex bathrooms only make it easier for a female or even a male (in some cases) to get raped. If they are just doing this to save money and not even really thinking of the consequences then Florida sucks a**. And at school even?? I mean come on! I am sure that the parents of those children are fully against that stupid idea.
