Why is so *important* for the opposition to reverse everything Obama has done...?

and go back to the way things were--during the last administration? Ever since Obama was elected, the opposition has refused to partake in *anything*. They don't like how he's handling the economy, they particularly don't like how he handled health care reform, and they most certainly aren't *liking* his calls for new Wall Street regulations in light of the Goldman Sachs scandal, and most likely...? They'll hate his approach to immigration reform--even though the GOP has supported such a measure in the past; along the same lines as Obama's current proposal calls for it. All this talk about booting out the Democrats and putting the same Republicans back in control of Congress doesn't make much sense. For one, these are the same people whom gave us this recession and this nightmare to begin with--starting with market deregulation and then bailing out Wall Street with Bush's TARP-funds program; after the economy went into the drink. McCain wasn't up to the challenge to dealing with the economy. Remember how he went on national TV and demanded that Obama suspend the fall campaign so that he could go vote in Washington? Obama declined and McCain ran and hid in the halls of Congress. The man's credibility and image was damaged because he wasn't "man enough" to face the perils our economy had been going through at the time! Two, we all know that any newly empowered GOP majority won't work with Obama one iota. They're going to introduce legislation and bills to tear down what Obama spent the last year and a half working to pass and that's that. Turn back the clock, kill progress, kill any hope keeping this nation moving forward on an even keel--including getting our economy back on track; though it's going to take time. There won't be any compromise or partisan government work--designed to address the needs of the people. The GOP is just going to sit on their butts, whine and complain, and do very little--if *any*--actual governing. You know this--from the past three years--I know this, everyone else knows this as well. So why is it so important to go back instead of forward? Haven't we had enough of the failed Republican policy machine that does little to help Main Street, but continues to empower Wall Street?

  1. moslty because he seems to be only directed towards tyranny and socialism. his latest stunt at forcing hospitals how to administer to patients is just another brick in th east german wall, if you will. as for the recession, apparently you don't really understand what happened and the fact that it took severl terms for it to occur. it started whne the clinton admin and congress under him forced banks to loan to bad riosk borrowers under the guise of 'fixing' ratial bias. when ever the left tries to "fix" things, they always screw it up worse than letting it take it's natural course. just look at the trouble we're having recovering from fdr...
  2. It's far more easier to sit back and complain about a problem, than to actually do something about it.
  3. Interestingly enough; to do so would admit defeat on the Republican talking points yield by Nixon, Regan, Bush 1 and 2. Oddly the Right continues to call Obama a Socialist, Marxist, and Communist; yet he governs from a Centrist political angel. Apparently their message on cutting taxes was just talk; and when Obama cut 95% of Americans taxes they raised a stink about it. It runs on the same line as Obama's recent Nuclear Proliferation Treaty with Russia; something that Regan started and that has been carried along in process with every POTUS since; except Bush 2, who dropped the ball.
  4. Conservatives believe certain actions by Obama are dangerous enough to our country that they need to be reversed. That's not moving backward. That's making sure the United States continues to be a great country. If you and others don't like the concepts that conservatives have expressed--concepts Obama and other Democrats have ignored, by the way--then vote Democrat. Your vote in politics has the same value as mine, and we can both vote based on how we feel as individuals. I would be VERY careful not to confuse progress with politics. Many things in politics appear to be progress but in reality are not. Additionally, what may be progress to you is destruction to others. The opinion of others, some of whom may or may not have studied issues more than you, is of equal value. I also suggest learning more about economics, and what it actually means to "empower" Main Street or Wall Street. Don't fall for the class warfare or economic myths told by some politicians or other people in the media.
  5. Obama "swooned" the nation with his rhetoric and promises of a "change" in how this country was run under Bush. Fine. McCain was NO competition, so Obama took the prize. Problem is, Obama has simply failed to "honor" the very promises that made people swoon and long for the change. The biggest betrayal and one that millions can NOT forgive, was the BIG pledge to clean up the Lobbyists and have a "transparent" Administration. Even Pelosi threw in her two cents, with "draining the swamp" talk. Instead, what "we" ended up with, was an INCREASE in registered Lobbyists in 6 months of his election and an Administration that has become one of the MOST shadowy and ideologically bizarre collection of advisers. And Pelosi ? Few can dispute the FACT that this Congress is the most corrupt and "special interests" group to ever dominate Government. This Congress and Administration have created a WHOLE new set of problems.
  6. If it worked better before, then it will be changed back. Of course some things can't be changed like the $787 billion stimulus that didn't work. Do you think when we have a Rep back in office that the dems will be screaming yes and praising everything he does? When they try to give input, do you think they will like being closed out...or appreciate having 'token' concessions made for them? No. Rep didn't start the recession. One reason for the housing meltdown was because of lack of regulation of Fannie and Freddie and we can thank Barney Frank and Chris Dodd for that. Rep aren't perfect, but don't think that dems are and rep have everything wrong. No matter if you believe that or not, that's just not the case. Obama is just as responsible for bailing out the banks as Bush was. Bush spent half the money and Obama spent the other half then he kept on spending! Obama promised to be above the partisanship, but he's the worst. He shut out reps when he didn't need their votes, he went after FOX, and he's taken 'jabs' at the folks in the tea parties.
