Should I finish my Associates Degree or transfer for my Bachelors?

This may be a bit long, so I apologize but I appreciate any advice I can get... thanks!!! Okay, so I've been going to a community college for 3 years because I tried a little bit of everything (art, advertising, legal studies, etc...) and I have FINALLY decided to pursue a career in graphic design/advertising. I didn't think I was really close to having any degree since I had taken such a weird combination of courses. Well I found out that I am 5 classes away from an Associates Degree in English, Social Sciences, or Liberal Arts. I originally wanted to transfer in the fall to go for my Bachelor's in Creative Advertising, but should I wait and finish my Associates next semester so I will at least have a degree on my resume? I have had a really rough time finding a job since I got laid off, so I'm considering doing night school anyways... What should I do? Forget about the five classes and transfer? I will be able to finish my Bachelor's Degree in 2-3 years. Or, should I take the 5 remaining classes (which should be easy since I got the tough core requirements out of the way early), and graduate with an Associates Degree in December. Will it help me get a job if I have my Associates?? Thanks!

  1. Take the 5 classes and get the Associates degree in English, as it is more versatile. Apply for a transfer as well to the four year college. Remember at the 4 year college they may not accept all your credits, that is why it is important to have the Associates.
  2. If you transfer you will be in school longer. With your associated they will just give it to you (if the 4 year institution has a transfer agreement with your college) as their gen eds. So if you do transfer before having your associates you will have to transfer each course over individually. This is always trouble. College all have different degree requirements, so your credits will not all transfer over into a different school's programs. Also, they have to have an exact equivalent, so if you have had a course that is not offered at the new school, you will not get to count it. Graduate and immediately transfer to get your Bachelors. Having an Associates degree is on the same level as not having a degree at all, because there is no upper level coursework and it is all general stuff. If the school that you are transferring to has a transfer agreement with your community college you will only have your major and grad requirements left to complete, so 2 years left.
  3. Hi While I was looking for a good college I found one web-site that offers you to browse a ton of different schools.Actually there are many places online but most of them are paid. This one is totally free . http://EduFinder.info You should try it I'm sure this will help
