How do they pick the houses for Spice Up My Kitchen on HGTV?

As a long time fan of the HGTV channel I was interested to learn how they pick the kitchens they base the shows around. I am planning to renovate my kitchen and would love to somehow "submit" my renovation project for consideration. I understand most shows expect the homeowner to pay for the renovation and I am fine with that since we already have our budget in place.

1. You can pull up the HGTV site and check it out. I think they limit the area to Calif. But I have written in to David Bromstead before and he actually wrote me back!
