1. If you want authentic Mexican design, visit travel websites and pay attention to what you see in the background. A travel agent probably has brochures of Mexico with people pictured dining and enjoying their vacation in the finest areas. That would be a good place to start for color and design inspiration. Go to the bookstore and look at literature on Mexican culture and cuisine. Right before your eyes you will have the authentic way of life in Mexico. Look for things like tiles, mexican blankets to hang on the walls, earth colors mixed with bright colors. Mexico is rich with pottery and textiles which would be easy to decorate with.
