How does the idea of the kitchen triangle work with more people going to 4 piece kitchens instead of three?
What I mean is instead of the standard fridge, sink and range more people are doing a cook-top and wall mount ovens. How does this effect the layout of a kitchen? We are hoping to build in a few yrs and will consult an Architect at that time but I would like to do some preliminary sketches of what I desire. Any information on this would be greatly appreciated, Thanks

- You still want the same basic layout but you might need a bit more room for it. Then again, maybe not, depending on how much room you had in the first place. It doesn't have to be an exact, even-on-all-sides triangle between the appliances and sink, anyway, it's just that the general concept works well. Get out a piece of graph paper and draw a little, you'll soon know what works and what doesn't. There are other perfectly good layouts besides the triangle, too. Look up kitchen layout on the net, lots of info vavailable.
- Great Question! The kitchen triangle http://www.brandsconstruction.com/CopperminePhotos/displayimage.php?pos=-16 concept still applies - however working with an architect to determine the best design for your home is a great idea. The 23' range for the triangle is modified for 2 person kitchens with multiple kitchen triangle items however with simply a cook-top or wall mount oven http://www.brandsconstruction.com/CopperminePhotos/displayimage.php?pos=-21 the general concept still applies.
