When was the last time you ate at a Country Kitchen Restaurant?
I thought they had all closed. HOWEVER, on our holiday trip, we found one in Ontario, OR that has the tastiest food..... We stayed at the motel attached to it both coming and going and enjoyed some really good food. I (believe it or not) had Liver and Onions with red potatoes and broccoli both times and it was excellent. The plate presentation was very eye appealing. My hubby had a burger the first time and country fried steak the next time. He enjoyed both dishes. I am really excited about this find and wanted to share it with you. So, when was the last time you ate at a Country Kitchen Restaurant? Do you remember what you had? And, did you like it? Thanks for your thoughts and comments!

- It's been ages for me. Hope you had a Happy New Year.
- Gosh they all dissappeared the metro at least 15 years ago. There food was a lot like Perkins, better than Denny's but worse than say Applebees. I can't remember the individual dish it's been too long.
- I go to my favorite one about once a week since there are quite a number of them around here. It's all homemade food done by someone who really knows how to cook just like your mom and grandma used to do. Their vegetable soup is out of this world. Last week I had chicken and biscuits and desert was homemade apple pie. I also like the liver and onions where they make the gravy from the liver. You aren't going to believe the price. The special of the day is usually only $5.50. That included the chicken, biscuits, mashed potatoes, and corn, and the portions are huge. I always end up taking about half of it home to enjoy later. I would eat there every day but I would get bigger than a house in no time. Yum! Yum!
- never have eaten at one. Will have to find one and try it soon.
- 10 years ago!! Don't remember what I had. Good service!! :-)
- Country kitchen has locations in about half the states. Here is a list of all their locations. http://www.countrykitchenrestaurants.com/locations/
- ate at one last night for dinner. texas sized chicken fried steak with fried okra(main course) salad with lettuce, baby spinach, boiled egg halves, sliced cucumbers in a sauce that was great, pickled okra, topped with italian dressing. i personnaly would rather eat at a mom and pop cafe than at a restraunt chain. edit:i did not realize that a country kitchen was actually a chain.i just thought that u were talking about the "mom n pop" cafes. my fault. hope u like the answer anyway
- Hi Eich ... I was at one today. I had the hamburger-steak and gravy and onions with a salad and ranch dressing. I usually drive 25 miles just to go to a country kitchen. The atmosphere is great there. They have dark stained cedar wood with replica ads from the 30's, 40's, 50's, and 60's. Those poster ads are anything from old tractor ads to old movie ads, Elvis ads, tobacco ads, etc ... It's nice to sit in a country restaurant and just read the old ads on the wall as we wait on our orders. Everyone knows everyone there. If you are ever in the South drop in. I would recommend it.
- We had one in Kalamazoo, MI until about three years ago. The last thing I ate there was one of their awesome omelettes, but my dining companion had their delicious pancakes, so we shared. It was a Denver omelette (not sure if it's called the same thing in Oregon). Mmmmm...thanks for the memory!
