Paint and Carpet Colors.. INTERIOR DESIGNERS HELP?

Me and my boyfriend are moving back into his parents house at the end of the month. We will be staying in a normal size bedroom. We want to change the carpet, it is horrible but don't know what color is best (we have kids and pets) And the walls are also painted RED so we need to paint those too! We have a white comforter but i can always get a new one and then our bed frame and dressers are brown. So anybody that likes interior designing PLEASE HELP. :D

  1. my opinion is that if you are going to carpit a bedroom it should be a white think carpet. But seeing as you have kids and a pet you may not be so thrilled about it. So i would Highleyyyy sugjest that you put in hard wood at then if you would like a small rug over it (optional). IK IK you are thinking how expensice that will be but hear me out! You do not need to get this profesionally done! you can get do it yourself hardwood flooring. I did it for my kitchen and it look great!! And it has been looking great for the last 2 years! Not to mention it is not hard at all there is no glueing nothing there are lettle flaps on each pannel and you jsut push them into each other and they lock together! If you are already ripping out the origonal carpit then why not right!? Its worth it! it will only take 1 or maybee 2 days and it will be there for years! Well hope this helpeddd =)
  2. Go for a light beige carpet. this opens up the room but doesn't look too cold like a white one would. Walls would be nice ivory. Minimal pictures, maybe an old map would look nice. No silver, red, green or pink. Maybe hints of blue. Mirrors look nice. Hope I helped.
  3. For the carpet I would try and frieze..almost like a shag..with different textures and colors in the carpet..and I would go with a warm golden beige..would look great with dark wood furniture and white bedding..also is great at hiding pet/kid traffic..for the walls (paint) I would try either a very pale sky blue or a light sage green..both are going to be soothing colors and will go great with the carpet and your furniture..add some complimentary throw pillows and a color full throw blanket on the end of your bed and you will instantly tie your bedding to the rest of your room!! I posted some links..the first one is the kind of carpet I was thinking..the second is a link to one of the carpets(the lemon verbena) and the second one has some blues that would work as well!!
