How can I become a professional Light Jockey?

Few month ago I discovered the DMX protocol and I've been playing around with it. I have a couple of fixtures and Im using freestyler with a dmx to usb adapter I got from ebay to create simple shows. I really like the idea of doing this professionally (Designing and controlling for big venues and concerts) Is there a school I can go to learn this? What is the major people get to perform this type of job? Thanks in advance...

  1. Many schools offer lighting and sound production as a part of their drama (stage) program. Look for a school near you with a campus live theatre/drama program and chances are you can get some knowledge there.
  2. That's a Lighting Engineer, and there are regular four year colleges that grant that degree.
