How come cool technology available in Japan, isn't available in the United States?

I watched a special about the recent technological innovations of Japan on the Travel channel. Why is it that Japan is always the first to get the coolest and latest gadgets and technology? Why does it take the US and other countries more time to finally catch on? Japan has a cool feature on cell phones that allows them to make purchases from the vending machine! There is a chip on the back on the cell phone. They touch the chip to the pad on the machine and they can get their candy, chips, soda,or juice. That is too cool!! Why isn't the United States in a hurry to place a chip on the back of our cell phones so that we can purchase candy, chips, and beverages from the vending machine? This invention would come in handy. WHat if you beome really hungry but you don't have any change or cash on you to purchase something from the vending machine on your job. Having a chip on the back of our cell phones so that we could purchase from a vending machine would come in handy for in case we don't have change or cash to purchase something from a vending machine. Tokyo,Japan has sleeping cubicles for when a man can't make it to his home. They are $40 a night. Its just a cubicle with a bed.The bed takes up the whole cubicle. You can't stand up in the cubicle. Its sitting room only. There is a radio, microwave, and tv in the space. You just lay or sit on the bed in the cubicle and watch tv,listen to music, and relax. Something like this would come in handy in the United States.Sometimes people get stranded.Plus the US has more of a problem with homelessness. This would be a nice thing for the homeless only it should be cheaper because $40 would be steep for a homeless person. Why isn't the technology thats available in Japan, available in the United States or other countries? Why is the United States always the last to receive cool technological innovations?

  1. Because everything is in Japan nowadays.. Japan is known for technology.
  2. because the chings are awesome
  3. The U.S. is not late to receive technological innovations. We are one of the most innovative countries on Earth. Japan accelerates in consumer electronics, but that doesn't mean we're behind them. You must be blind. All countries exceed in diff. sectors, and Japan along w/ Korea and I can say US (silicon valley) are great w/ electronics. Tell me this, has Japan landed a man on the moon yet? Is it America or Japan who produces the best quality of medical equipment to save the lives of others? Was it America or Japan that made the video game consol first? The first answer is NO. Japan has not landed a man on the moon, and what country do you think will be taking the innitiative to get humans to the moon, mars, and other planets? Certainly not Japan. Although our health care system is jacked up, we have some of the finest medical technology on Earth, and video games were first made here before the 1980s video game crash or whatever it's called. Then the video game industry shifted to Japan, and now it's evened out w/ us back on the playing field. I could go on and on but what I'm trying to say is that just b/c Japan has cool electronics, if it weren't for us making great discoveries that allowed these cool Japanese electronics to be made, they would not exist today. America doesn't have sleepign cubicles like Japan b/c of cultural diffirences and societies views on issues like these. Sleeping cubicles isn't anything 'technologically innovative'. Any city or country could have them if they desired.
  4. The sleeping cubicles are a great idea, they've been around for awhile. I've wondered why they haven't been installed in American airports. As many delays as there are in air travel some entrepreneur could make a fortune.
  5. I watched that too! =D The stuff I seen on there had really cool electronics and gadgets. I have the feeling that we don't have those things because it's very expensive.
  6. Ask your Government.
  7. I'm impressed that you haven't gotten this response yet: "Because we're America, that's why, and we're not Japan, and if you hate America so much and think that Japan is so great, get the Hell out now!"
