Interior designer?
Ok this may sound really weird...i am 13 and i REALLY want to be an interior designer. I know what you're thinking, "How would a 13 year old know for sure what she wants to do?" But I've wanted to be one since i was in like 3rd grade and i was always redecorating the living room and my bedroom, it drove my parents nuts, but at the same time they liked it. Anyway, how can I learn more about it?? Like any websites would really be helpful. And do you have to go to a special school to do interior design, or can you go to any regular collage. Thanks so much for your help!! Also it runs in the family...my mom, grandma, and aunt did it too!

- you still have to go on a college that cater interior designing course, its vital to know the art and rules of designing..
- That's nothing strange. My younger bro is the same age as you, 13, and he wants to be a doctor. I can pretty much sense it in him that he probably will become one. I don't know if you believe in astrology, but I say it can be true. As you were talking about, interior design.....try reading books about interior design and architecture from the library or web. This will give you some basic info on it before you study it in college. My girlfriend is working on her architect degree so she's studying about architecture. I think she knows a little or somewhat about interior design; not sure. If you would like to know her I can introduce you; just e-mail me.
- How wonderful that you have such a passion for interior design at such a young age. Yes, there are some fabulous schools out there for interior design. Being on the left coast, we're familiar with Art Center for Design in Pasadena, CA and Otis School of Design in LA both top notch schools. There are also some well known schools in NYC. If you are interested and want to learn more about the field, check out the design books in your local library or bookstore. Also, visit the DIY and HGTV and Fine Living websites for all kinds of great design ideas. Having been from a family of interior designers and married an architect, I can tell you that it is a very rewarding, fulfilling and lucrative profession. Do what you love and have a passion for! Best of Luck!
- Check out hgtv.com Also there are many interior design schools on-line that will gladly send you information.
