Beadboard and slate? Good match?

I would like to remodel my bathroom using slate-look tile from mirazzi (mirazzi.com). I currently have beadboard paneling in my bathroom which I want to paint. The problem is that when I think of slate, I think of a more modern look, and beadboard is more traditional. I like the beadboard, but I also want that tile. I have no sense of what looks good in a home, so I would like to receive feedback from readers who have design know-how. Could this be a good combination? How could I make this work?

  1. Can you add a boarder of the slate above the bead-board or something that pulls the flooring into the wall of the same color. Maybe even with another similar stone tile. I hope you understand what I mean. I love the bead-board and the slate idea. I have very eclectic taste and when done right it can work well.
  2. go for it - beadboard n slate will look great togethr. you are going to have very rich looking bathroom. good luck.
  3. I have the exact same thing. However, I hate slate in a bathroom. I'm not sure if the owners of this house before me did not put a "humidity" sealant on the slate tiles or not, but I despise slate in a bathroom. It does not seem to handle humidity well. I too am painting my bead-board, but ditching the slate and going for ceramic instead.
