I need help designing my house?
My husband and I will be moving into our first, new home on May 15th. I need help with how to pick a colors for the room! We will get a tan couch for the living room. The Kitchen and Living room are attached and small. So I want the colors to blend. The bathroom I want maybe black and white. Our bedroom I want modern and "homey" I like greens, browns, red, black and white. Any help would be great. Pictures of your ideas or colors would be AWESOME!!! Thanks!

- Tan couch is a neutral color so you can do a lot with that. You can do olive, brown, beige for the wall. You just don't want the room too boring with colors. If you do the olive for example on the wall, you can bring in pillows and decorative items with the same or similar color. Let the colors come in together one way or another but using your furniture with the neutral colors first so that there will be flexibility in case you want to redecorate in the future. In the kitchen I would do more festive colors, fruits, ivy, black and white combination is cool. More uniform in that room. Bathroom same theory as living/dining room, although easier because it's a smaller room and the stores have coordinating accessories for you. Pick the colors you like as long as they come in together with like colors somehow. I also like to add a pop of color somewhere in the room with the reds, lime, yellows. This young lady needs help in HOW to pick colors. Not all colors go together. For example, I wouldn't do orange with red. Very tacky. She needs help in HOW to pick colors. My email is jackie.aquino@pgnmail.com in case you have any questions. I would like to help. Good luck.

- I've been thinking over your question and I really think since you have a tan couch and taking into consideration the colors you said you like, a pea green on your living room walls would work wonderfully. Infact, I would pick one wall as an 'accent' wall and on this particular wall, get one container of pea green flat paint and one container of pea green semi gloss. Using tape to create wide verticle stripes from floor to ceiling, paint every other stripe with the flat green and every other stripe after, with the semi gloss green. It won't be enough to stand out greatly but just enough to cast a beautiful glow on the stripes with the gloss. Possibly a room sized rug, even if you have carptet you CAN put another rug over it and it's quite acceptable now to do so, in a matching color with your walls. Be sure to ancor your run under the fron legs of your couch. Some throw pillows would really set off the room and marry all your colors together. Some green, some with white and black and some tan or pillows that have all three colors in them in whatever patterns you like best. Even some red pillows would go since most of your other colors are 'earthy', red would add that little pazzaz. As you move into your kitchen, it will be easier to put whatever colors you want in there since you'll have plenty of the colors you like already in your living room so anything you pick should match a throw pillow or something in the living room rug. That way you won't be walking from one room to another and see a striking difference while at the same time, you won't have the same exact thing in both rooms either. Hope this helps some.
