how often do you/do you plan to get professional pictures taken of your little one(s)?

Right now we are figuring on once a year sometime around his birthday give or take a month or so...went today and got some really great pictures done at Portrait Innovations!! Came out with tons of pictures (about 15 or so poses) for a little less than twice the price as what we paid for 2, yes 2, poses at Sears...and the people were SOOOOOO much nicer there!! So how often do you get professiona pictures done?? we are all the time taking pictures with our smaller cannon digital cameras...so have tons of "candid" pictures...

  1. So far we have gotten newborn, 3 months, and will be getting 6 months soon... we then will get 9 months, 1 year, 18 months, 2 years and then just every year after that
  2. my mom had my pics done every 2 months until i was a yr old so i could see the changes. i do the same for my little girl...i answered this question so that i could tell you about Portrait Innovations cause I LOVE that place but when i read i saw that you already know about them!!
  3. Well, since my daugther is less than a year, I get pictures done every month- just a small package though. The first time I went in to get them done they had a membership card that I paid only $50 for, to get a free 8 x 10 every month- and if I want a package it's only like $7. It was too good to pass up.. After she a year old, I only plan to get pictures around her birthday
  4. We have 4 children. We have one done just after they are born. Then we have one done again at 6 months, 12 months, 18 months and then age 2 because they change so much those first 2 years. After that, it's once a year, near their birthdays until they get into school, and then we just use their school portrait as their once-a-year portrait. Which reminds me, my daughter is now 19 months, I guess it's time to get hers done! :)
  5. Maybe I'll get a for-real professional one done at some point in childhood, and then another in adolescence. Sears Portrait Studio et al can go suck themselves; those "professional" portraits are usually dreadfully cheesy, and Grandma takes much, much nicer pictures than Sears does.
  6. Actually we have a Nikon D40 which takes what look like professional photos. It's very high quality so in the long run, taking our own "professional" photos saves money :) We take a "portrait" every summer and before Christmas for the Christmas card. It has a self timer too so mommy and daddy can get in the pics too if we want.
  7. whenever his reached a new milestone lol we own a awsome photographers camera and just got some good white material hang it off something and every few weeks we take some new pics but probly twice a year we get proper ones done we have a family tradition of a mothers day shoot and then near xmas we have some
  8. Sophie is 2.5 and we've never had them done. I love taking pictures and have a billion adorable ones! Plus my mom, MIL, and SIL take fantastic shots of her. So I'm good. :) **Yep, candids are just what we like. It's all up to your preference.

  10. I honestly can say we haven't done any and we have a 2 year old and a 5 month old. I like to take pictures with my camera and I think they mean so much more to me when my husband and I take them. Most people I know have done them when they were born, 2 months, some at 4 months, 6 months, 12 months, 18 months and then every year after. I think it just depends on what you want.
  11. I go a lot, I take pictures for a living. But the major milestones that I get pictures for family members are every 2 mths. I also do holidays such as Halloween, Christmas, Fathers Day and Baptism pics for family members.
  12. family portraits are done once a year- he gets a pose or two by himself at that time besides that, we got the home digital camera out everyday, taking candid shots of his antics

  14. Once a year is what I'll be doing. I got my daughters done at 6 months, and she did so great. But now she's 17 months and i've been procrastinating. I can just see how it wont work so well this time around lol She wont even sit long enough to read a 5 page book.
  15. Snap Shots everyday!! Babies changed daily and it's awesome to watch the progression. Professional pictures at newborn, 3, 6, 9, 12 and every year after that (and it would be nice on christmas too). Just go there with an idea of what you want to spend and don't spend anymore!! The main thing my husband and i have learned is that it's a lot cheaper if you have coupon and only purchase the pictures that are not enhanced (purchase the pictures that come right from the camera). You would be surprised how much more you will spend for a picture that has a little bit of shading or a circle around the family, etc.
