Dorm living room design tips?
I got assigned an apartment owned by my university for my dorm next year. it has a living room and a kitchenette, and the living room comes with an (ugly) sofa, chair and 2 tables. does anybody have any creative suggestions of how i can make the living room look nice without paint or nails in the walls, and with using the ugly furniture it comes with? thanks in advance:)

- use photos, ornaments etcc ...
- If you can afford to slipcover the sofa and chair, that may help. Then use pillows to add color. A rug might be a good idea, and you can always put a tablecloth or runner on an ugly table to make it look better. In other words, use fabric to cover up what you don't want to see. It also tends to make a room look warmer, more comfortable, and more friendly. The only problem is that you will have at least one roommate, who may have his or her own ideas of what the room should look like. Make sure you discuss this with that person before spending money!
- definitaly get a sofa slip cover. find nice table cloths with bright colors too. for the walls add tons of posters and picture collages. and then get bright curtains too. also get a few large rugs that will match your decor. just make sure you talk to your roomie about colors and go shopping for everything together if possible.
- I think you can always use wall murals. Instead of hiring professional mural painters, you can get some easy selfstick murals from stores. All you need to do is decided the picture and the size you want, then go to the right merchandises. Those selfstick products use dried glue, so you can set it yourself by first applying enough warm water on the back side. When you get bored with the picture, you can easily removed and changed it with another one. Here is my favorite mural store, http://www.visionbedding.com/PhotoWallMurals.php
