How do I connect to Xbox Live?

I have a motorola cable/phone modem from my cable company heres a picture of it http://www.cesweb.org/shared_files/innovations/innovations_2004/6382/mainphoto6382.jpg and a Linksys BEFSR41 V3.1 Ethernet Cable/DSL Router 4 ports, im doing a wired connection, how do i get it all set up

1. hey its really easy you have to get a gold or silver membership and then got to settings and wire it up put ip adress and stuff to automatic and then make an acoount Hope it works good luck
2. just plug the ethernet cable from the back of the x box into 1 of those 4 inputs on the router. then take the cable cord running from the end that is not in the modem and plug the into the back of the router. finally if u want to use it for a wired desk top too just take another ethernet cable plug it into ur computer and 1 of the ports in that router. ENJOY
3. Step 1: Unplug EVERYTHING from your modem and wait 2 FULL minutes. Step 2: Plug everything back up BUT instead of hooking the internet cable to your computer, hook it up to your 360. Then wait 1 minute
