Are the soup kitchens in the cities run by religious organizations?
Just curious because the Conservatives are suppose to be heartless. And how many soup kitchens does moveone.org have or any other Liberal group. Please list
Public Comments
- None.
- Some are. Actually, more are run by organizations that help the homeless and poor (yes, those pesky liberals). If you'd like to find these statistics for yourself, I suggest you go here: http://4homeless.hypermart.net/soup_kitchens.html
- hmmmmm...libs are curiously silent on this one... @tonalc2-clicked on your link but didn't see any statistics proving your point, but I did find this on the home page: "If you are homeless, hungry and desperately in need a place to stay tonight, try the Salvation Army Locator or look in the yellow pages under churches" (note: Salvation Army is a Christian organization)
- I think you misunderstand. They just want government to do it. I had a solar panel put on my roof and my neighbor wanted one. So i told him about it. He said he'd wait for the government to do it!
- Some are. A lot of organizations have been shut down or regulated out of business. Why should a woman who is handing out sandwiches out her back door to the homeless be required to have a commercial kitchen and wear a hair net? I know in my town there is a public homeless shelter, but the rest of the big charities are organized privately through secular foundations and churches.
- Shutyomoufwillis! The soup kitchen I hang at serves cat soup!
- funny how a republican would mention soup kitchens- tell me, how do I find the soup kitchen in Hooverville, usa?
- Church people certainly do a lot for the poor. They organize a gathering of good, clean clothing and take to the poor. They help in soup kitchens. They stockpile groceries for burn-out home victims. They provide furniture. They run homes for unwed mothers. They take shoes and other items to Haiti for the poor there. They provide health services and medicines in countries where it's not available. They are there to help rebuild someone's home that's been damaged by storms. I'm sure other good people work towards these same goals also. Whether Dem or Rep...there are good and helpful people all over this America who work tirelessly in reaching out to help others. God Bless them.
- Religious and other charitable organizations
