How to decorate this room... Interior Design Advice?
http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc34/cathielliott/101_5133.jpg http://i219.photobucket.com/albums/cc34/cathielliott/101_5136-1.jpg We just bought a house, and this is the kitchen. As you can see it's quite long, one half is darker and one half is quite light. We can't afford to change the cabinets, so we have to work with what we've got. I would prefer to do something slightly more interesting that white, so does anyone have any ideas? (Since this photo was taken we've sanded and re-varnished the floors, and stripped the wallpaper) Also, does anyone know of any interior design websites where I can post these photos and get advice? Thanks in advance.

- i think your kitchen is really nice you could sand down the existing cabinets and paint it an espresso brown color and get a lighter counter top that is not to expensive like this one http://img.alibaba.com/photo/11741048/Engineered_Quartz_Stone_Countertops.jpg, and just give the kitchen a nice coat of paint and you are done, but most of your money will probably be put into a new counter top although it doesnt have to be granite or an expensive stone
- Although it is a bit of an unusual shape for a kitchen it is nice. I love the floors. If the refinished nicely, I think you should really appreciate them. I wouldn't worry about doing anything to the cabinets unless you want to change some hardware. Based on the color of the counter tops and cabinets I think a light slate blue would look great in there. I think I would keep the doors and trim white. Some good sights are: rate my space.com and HGTV.com.
- 1] buy cafe or priscilla curtains/valences or shade panels for all windows, in the Cook's fav color pink peach or apricot butter or lemon yellow sage, mint, lime aqua smoke blue 2] or a nice print stripe gingham flowers etc. 3] display collection of pitchers, vases, etc.over cooking space 4] wall space - framed wine labels old food ads famous eaters [ Wimpy, Homer, etc. ] or whatever else you like looking at a lot! 5] counter items - should all be useful AND pretty [ color, design ] to make cooking a pleasure!
