1. Your independent variable will be light color. Your dependent variable will be plant growth. You will want to make everything else as constant between groups (e.g. soil, water, temperature air supply).. You will have two or more groups. You will set up light sources (LEDs, bulbs or filters) that are different colors. Trying to make the intensity constant will be a challenge. A "white light" source should be a positive control If the plants don't grow in the white light, something is wrong with the setup.. No light source will measure how much growth is based on stray light coming into the chamber or from energy in the soil and starting plant -- the negative control. Otherwise, you will grow each group of plants in a light tight chamber with a single source of light. Decide how you will measure plant growth (height, mass, number of leaves, etc.). Have enough plants per group to make a statistical evaluation.
