Which Geography/Geology would be easiest for someone who knows nothing about it between these?

Might take a college Geo out of curiosity as an elective... GEOG 110 Intro. to Physical Geography I This course provides an opportunity for understanding part of the complex physical and biological environment in which human beings live. It introduces basic processes that influence the characteristics and spatial relationships of climate, water cycle and vegetation. The first part of the course examines the interactions of solar energy with the Earth's atmosphere and surface, and how atmospheric circulation, precipitation, and weather systems are generated. The second part of the course covers the cycling of water and other Earth resources within the living zone - the biosphere. It focuses on how these cycles, together with the flows of energy, influence the nature and distribution of ecosystems and vegetation. Throughout the course, students look at patterns of human activity that are in response to and have an effect upon environmental processes, and are asked to observe and interpret aspects of their local environment in light of what they have learned. or GEOG 200 Regional Geography of Canada This course examines the physical, human, and economic geography of Canada in a regional context. It focuses on the many interconnections and relationships between the different regions, between different areas in the regions, and between cities and the rural areas in each region. It also explores the distribution patterns of people, cultural groups, and economic activities to illustrate how the regions are part of larger interconnected systems (e.g., Canada, North America, or the Pacific Rim). The course is designed to promote an understanding of the similarities and differences between different areas across Canada and to develop students' skills in recognizing and analyzing the salient geographical features of those regions and the country as a whole. OR Geology GEOL 120: Introduction to Earth Science GEOL 120 is a one-semester, four-credit course that provides the equivalent of a first-year university or college geology or physical geography course. It studies the nature of the Earth and its development through time. GEOL120 examines the Earth's origins and composition, in addition to volcanoes, earthquakes, and development of the landscape over time by such processes as weathering, mass wasting, rivers, glaciers, wind, and waves. As the laboratory component of the course is integrated with the theoretical component, the credit earned upon completion of the course will be a lab science credit. This will provide a prerequisite credit needed for further studies in geology or geography as well as for many other areas, such as education and general arts, where lab science credits are required. If you can't take roughly 15 seconds to read 3 short paragraphs then you really aren't qualified to answer my question.

  1. I didn't read any of that. way to long. Geography would be easier. The reason is simple. You can see geography around you everywhere you look. The information has the potential to make immediate sense. Geology on the other hand, delves into things that you may never see in your lifetime. The categories and explanations of things are a bit like biological classifications and rely on time periods or historical events to even begin grasping core concepts.
  2. GEOG200 deals with the physical aspect of Canada and the distribution of its people. GEOG110 deals with the physical aspect of the Earth's surface, not much on the distribution of people, but more on the interaction between people and nature. GEOL120 deals with the physical aspect of the whole Earth (not only the surface)-- its history or origins, the processes and forces that shape it. Well, depending on your interests, either GEOG200 or GEOG110 would be easier. However, since GEOG200 specifically covers Canada, it would be the easiest, especially if you live in Canada. On the other hand, GEOG110 takes on the whole Earth from a general point of view. So, if specifics are easier for you, choose GEOG200. If generalities are easier for you, choose GEOG110.
  3. Depends on the Professor. Ask around college, and see which professors are easier. I took both an Earth Science (Geology) class, and a Geography class in college, and got As in both. Both professors were very cool.
