How do you find an architect that designs traditional style homes instead of modern?
We're cosidering building a home in an historic district and I want it to blend in and I want it to be well-designed.

- yellow pages. really. interview with the various architects that you call and ask to see their portfolio and if they have done historic preservation. it isn't totally necessary that they done that, but it would make them more qualified. also check with a historic preservation society in your area. they will be able to recommend someone. that being said, many home designers (not architects) can design a home that will have have the contextual elements that you want. and you will spend less money on design. they may not have the status as architect, but be able to do just as good as job with a home, and present practical solutions that an architect won't, because they probably worked directly with construction trades
