I'm looking for a grassy type of plant...?

I'm designing a landscape for a small (really small) backyard and I want to add a little dimension by using a really tall plant combined with strategic landscape lighting. I need something that can grow in a medium to large sized pot and grow straight up about 4-5 feet. Any suggestions? Something that looks "grassy" and can survive a canadian winter would be nice but not necessary.

  1. I love Gayfeather - it is hardy in zone 3, will grow 4 ft. depending on the variety, but is sort of flower-y. For a grassier grass, Japanese Silver grass will grow 4- 6 ft. but is only hardy down to zone 5
